How was the start of the collaboration between UTM and Transilvania University marked?
The visit in early March 2023 marked the start of transforming our project from concept to reality. From March 1–4, 2023, a delegation from the UTM School of Design and members of the Formula Student UTM team paid a strategic visit to Transilvania University in Brașov. The goal was to transition from theoretical concepts to the rigorous manufacturing of a competition vehicle capable of meeting Formula Student standards. During the exhibition, the team focused on mastering advanced design and manufacturing techniques, essential for building a single-seater that meets the rigorous standards of international competitions.
What does the expertise of Romania’s first team entail?
BlueStreamline is the team that pioneered Formula Student in Romania as early as 2009. With an impressive portfolio of over 15 single-seaters built, they have tested the limits of engineering on legendary circuits such as Silverstone (UK) and Catalunya (Spain). Currently, the Brașov-based team has evolved strategically, being divided into two parallel divisions that simultaneously develop both internal combustion and electric single-seaters. Their performance is backed by the numbers: a climb of 109 positions in the World Ranking over the past three years, placing them 295th globally. For us, their success is clear proof of what can be achieved through discipline and consistency.
What comes next after the Brașov experience?
The analysis conducted alongside the Brașov team transformed our theoretical vision into applied technical solutions, ready to be implemented on our first single-seater, “Acvila.”
This journey taught us to avoid potential execution errors and streamline the manufacturing process, while also providing us with a clear framework for managing logistics and international relations. By the time we returned, a rigorous action plan was already taking shape to accelerate the assembly of the prototype.
