Formula Student Team UTM

What is Virtual FS Alpe Adria?

Virtual FS Alpe Adria is the official digital division of the competition, serving as a high-precision simulation event designed to test the limits of engineering and driving. By utilizing the Assetto Corsa platform and rigorous technical settings, the organizers faithfully reproduce the conditions of a real Formula Student race, providing a validation environment identical to that of physical circuits.

The main focus is on the endurance test, where vehicle dynamics, component wear, and track precision are simulated according to the laws of physics applied in high-performance motorsports.

Who represented the Formula Student Team UTM?

The driving duties fell to members of the Formula Student Team UTM who have solid experience in motorsports competitions in the Republic of Moldova. Maxim Crainov, an autocross driver, and Andrei Aleinov, a drift driver, made the transition from real-world circuits to the virtual cockpit.

This combination of skills ensured precise control of the single-seater, with the drivers using their knowledge of weight transfer and grip limits to maintain a steady pace throughout the endurance stages.

How did the simulation unfold?

The competition required covering a critical distance simulating the endurance test, the most demanding stage of any Formula Student event. The drivers interacted with a digital model featuring advanced suspension, aerodynamics, and engine management settings. Each lap involved continuous analysis of telemetry, where reliability took priority over absolute speed, forcing the team to adopt a calculated race strategy to avoid technical errors or penalties.

What benefits does this format offer?

Participating in Virtual FS Alpe Adria provides our team with essential data for developing future physical prototypes. The simulation allows for testing various configurations without the logistical costs of a track outing, while also providing a training platform for drivers.

Success in this digital environment validates the technical preparedness of the Formula Student Team UTM and strengthens the presence of Moldovan engineering in the international community.
